Bird's Eye Farm Vanilla Orchid
ADGA Pedigree
Vanilla was born in a kidding stall shared by her mom Ina and Ina’s older daughter, Elena. Their two sets of twins were born two days apart. The funny thing was Ina’s twins looked nothing like Ina. They were cream gold, just like Elena. To further confuse, Elena’s chamoise twins looked nothing like Elena. Little baby Vanilla couldn’t handle that much cognitive dissonance. So she curled up next to Elena and decided to be her kid. (Pictured below.)
From the start we adored Vanilla. Her conformation was lovely and I knew she’d make a great milker. But we already had a splendidly correct, cream gold Ina daughter. So we sent Vanilla to a new dairy home. But before she was able to be bred, the adopter’s circumstances changed and Vanilla came back to us. I took it as a sign. No! the universe said. You do not have too many Ina daughters! Indeed, you *cannot* have “too many” Ina daughters because Ina is the freaking best! So, hey. I listened.
Vanilla’s paternal granddam Diji Farm BL Meriweather 3*M +EEE89 brings to this wonderful mammary mix a strong medial and large teats, two things I want to improve on in this line. Her handsome sire Diji Farm CRE Elohim *B won an ANDDA All-American 3 Year—Under 5 award in 2023.
Vanilla freshens for the first time in 2026, joining the competitive ranks of does vying to be successor to Ina’s conformation fortune. May they all win!
