Vanilla already has wonderful body capacity for a first freshener, and she scored a V in mammary just a month into her first lactation. This bodes well!
She’s developing much like her mom Ina, the grande dame (& granddam) of our herd, and her rear legs look better than Ina’s. I’d love to see a stronger medial, but Ina’s MSL improved over time, so hopefully Nilla’s will too.
Nilla’s paternal granddam Diji Farm BL Meriweather 3*M +EEE89 has a strong medial and large teats, two things I want to improve on in this line.
Vanilla kidded a single in her 2026 first freshening, and her udder was like, “Seriously, just one? I got enough milk in here for trips at least!” We had to start milking immediately, because her quite large kid couldn’t even keep one side empty. First lactation is off to a bangin start!
Baby story! Vanilla was born in a kidding stall shared by her mom Ina and Ina’s older daughter, Elena. Their two sets of twins were born two days apart. But Ina’s twins looked nothing like Ina. They were cream gold, just like Elena. To further confuse, Elena’s chamoise twins looked nothing like Elena. Little baby Vanilla couldn’t handle that much cognitive dissonance. So she curled up next to Elena and decided to be her kid. (Pictured below.)
